I’ve always been a big fan of Smashing Magazine, which I don’t make that much of a secret about. After all, it’s hard not to be a fan: they produce high-quality articles, have a rigorous editorial process, and have a great attitude towards publishing content on the web. I’ve been writing at Smashing Magazine for more than a year now, but it’s really exciting to be able to tell the world that I now get to be part of the Smashing Magazine editorial process, as an Editor!
Vitaly and I have been emailing discussing how I can be more involved with the Smashing Mag family, which in itself has been exciting. And when he asked if I’d like to be an editor I, of course, jumped at the chance. I’m really excited to have the chance to work with Vitaly, Iris, Esther, and the rest of the Smashing Team.
My editorial responsibilities fall within any area of Smashing Magazine, which means I can find writers and help them to develop articles on any topic. My personal aim as an editor, is to help writers to produce the best content that they possibly can, and to provide readers with thought-provoking, educational resources.
Anyone who’s worked with me as an editor in the past, knows that my attitude is always to the point, rigorous, and fastidious. I love working with writers to help them to improve, whether that’s in terms of style, structure, or content. I like to ask questions and play devil’s advocate, to challenge people as much as possible. I also like to put myself in the position of a reader, to ensure that the article is understandable to as wide an audience as possible.
The next step for me, is to find writers to work with. If you’d like to work with me, feel free to pitch me an article. If you’re a great writer, or someone with an interesting project, you may find an email from me in your inbox sometime soon.
[Update: this is in addition to Words for WP! I won’t be abandoning my clients :)]
